The Allen Economic Development Group, a public/private partnership formed in 1993 to act as the one stop location for countywide economic development. The mission statement of AEDG is as follows:
It is the mission of the Allen Economic Development Group to create an environment for new business development, to promote and nurture existing business and to facilitate the creation of new jobs in Allen County.
This cooperative effort of the public and private sectors has been the catalyst in the economic growth that has taken place creating and retaining over 10,000 jobs.
Many other factors contributed to the growth as well. A bottom line low cost of doing business is a primary advantage of doing business in Allen County. A strong dedicated labor force with an exceptional work ethic is a readily available asset that can train and adapt very easily to a company's needs. Another regional strength is the number of universities and adult training facilities in the immediate area to assist companies with specialized training requirements. Allen County's location on Interstate 75 and State Routes 30 and 33 gives us strategic access to all U.S. and International markets. Unparalleled rail transportation is provided by three Class one and two short-line rail carrier.
