2025 is off to a powerful start for AEDG and the future of Allen County’s economy. In the first quarter alone, we have taken significant steps to attract new investment, strengthen relationships with existing businesses, and lay the groundwork for economic growth throughout Allen County.
Strengthening Existing Relationships
One of our top priorities is supporting businesses that call Allen County home. This quarter, our goal was to conduct 25 business retention and expansion (BR&E) visits; we were not only able to meet that goal but exceeded it with 31 visits completed. These weren’t just check-ins; 21 of those visits were strategically aligned with our Enterprise Zone Agreements and Property Tax Abatements, essential for our TIRC Review and the upcoming ODOD Final Report.
We also responded to 10 additional businesses, reinforcing our commitment to being present and responsive.
Fueling Growth: Attracting New Business
Our second goal was to attract two to three new projects this quarter. Again, we were able to surpass that goal, bringing in four new prospects successfully. Each project is tied to key locations like the Perry Industrial Park and Gateway Commerce Parkway in Perry Township and Shawnee Industrial Park located in Shawnee Township, positioning us to boost capital investment, property values, and job creation.
We are also continuing to advance several 2024 carryover prospects, including a pending project in American Township, reinforcing the strength of our ongoing recruitment efforts.
Investing in Infrastructure and Site Preparedness
This quarter, we have identified five new economic development projects by collaborating with the Port Authority of Allen County. From road improvements at Jay Begg Parkway to infrastructure enhancements within the Delphos Industrial Park, we’re laying the groundwork for long-term industrial growth.
These upgrades are more than concrete, pavement, and utilities — they are investments in the future of our community.
Strengthening Our Organization: New Tools and Leadership
To better support our outreach and engagement, we rolled out a new CRM system, HubSpot, and documented our BR&E procedures, allowing us to serve our local businesses more efficiently and strategically.
Earlier this year, we welcomed Dr. Tim Fitzpatrick to the team as our new Business Development Director. Dr. Fitzpatrick will focus on strengthening business relationships, advancing workforce initiatives, and driving economic development across Allen County. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Fitzpatrick to the AEDG team as we continue to expand our impact across Allen County.
Looking Ahead to Q2
AEDG’s momentum is strong going into Q2, as we have already built a plan for BR&E, attracting new business, and site preparedness. We remain dedicated to our mission: to support our existing businesses, attract new ones, and ensure our sites and infrastructure are ready for the future.
Thank you all for your continued support and for being part of the engine that drives economic development in Allen County. The progress we’ve made is just the beginning — and I’m confident that together, we will achieve even greater things.
