AEDG Welcomes Jena Shafer as Executive Assistant

The Allen Economic Development Group (AEDG) is proud to announce a new addition to our team, Jena Shafer, who will be taking on the role of Executive Assistant. Jena brings over nine years of administrative experience to AEDG and will be a pivotal player in shaping our region’s future.

Bringing Nine Years of Administrative Excellence

Jena joins AEDG with over nine years of administrative experience, which she gained at the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH). She began her career there as a student worker before being hired full-time as an administrative assistant. Her background in higher education administration has equipped her with a strong foundation in organization, communication, and attention to detail.

Her diverse experience also includes marketing, project coordination, and a long-standing connection to MakerFest through her work helping students explore career paths across a wide range of industries. That experience has given her valuable insight into workforce development, making her a natural fit for the work AEDG leads in the region.

Jena’s Role With Allen Economic Development Group

In her new role as Executive Assistant, Jena will provide administrative support across both AEDG and the Greater Lima Region (GLR), managing everything from purchase orders and invoices to helping coordinate meetings with local business leaders and documenting minutes. She’ll also spearhead marketing and organizational efforts for key events like MakerFest, including creating sponsorship materials, promotional flyers, and organizing participant information.

One of her first major projects will be implementing AEDG’s new customer relationship management system, HubSpot. Jena will build out a database of local business leaders and establish a more efficient system designed to evolve alongside AEDG’s growing network of partners.

“We’re excited to welcome our new Executive Assistant, Jena Shafer to the AEDG team,” said Cynthia Leis, President/CEO of AEDG. “Jena’s strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to supporting our mission will play a vital role in helping us continue to serve the Allen County community and drive local economic development forward.”

A Personal Commitment to Community Growth

As a mother of two children, Jena understands firsthand the importance of creating opportunities for the next generation. Her personal connection to Allen County drives her passion for continuous community development, making her an ideal fit for AEDG’s mission of regional prosperity and growth.

“I’m excited to start a new chapter as Executive Assistant with the Allen Economic Development Group and the Greater Lima Region, supporting two organizations that are passionate about growing businesses, creating jobs, and building strong communities here in Allen County and across the greater Lima region. I’m proud to be part of the work that helps our region thrive,” Jena shares.

Outside of work, Jena values quality time with her family and friends. She particularly enjoys working on creative art projects with her children. These personal experiences reinforce her commitment to building a thriving community where every family can flourish.
