As we close out 2025, it’s clear that this has been a year of tremendous growth and investment for Allen County, Ohio. From downtown Lima’s dynamic businesses to exciting developments in our neighboring communities, this year has been filled with progress that promises to shape the future of the region for years to come. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the milestones that made 2025 a year to remember.
Revitalization in Downtown Lima
One of the most visible changes this year has been in the heart of Lima, where more than $60 million in investments has revitalized the downtown area. The energy in the city center is noticeable, with new restaurants, businesses, and entertainment options attracting more people.
Nonno’s Cellar, Vista Taco’s rooftop bar, and the entire Spring & Main development are just a few of the exciting additions that have made downtown a vibrant spot for both locals and visitors. With the opening of Duck-Pin Bowling, a boutique shopping district, and new sweet spots like Winan’s coffee and chocolate shop and a new bakery, there’s something for everyone downtown.
Along with the growing food scene, new housing developments are bringing more residents to the downtown area, making Lima’s city center a place to live, work, and relax. And for families, the Lima Aquatic Center, which opened this year, has quickly become a gathering place for fun and recreation.
Delphos: A Small Town with Big Growth
Outside of Lima, Delphos has also seen its fair share of expansion this year. Main Street is becoming a hub for small businesses, with shops, cafes, and service providers bringing new energy into the community. The Mill and Doc’s Dance Hall have added excitement to the area, and the presence of family-owned businesses continues to give Delphos its unique charm.
At the Delphos Industrial Park, Vanamatic has expanded its capabilities with a new CNC division, creating more job opportunities for local residents. This growth not only boosts their production and capabilities but also provides valuable skill development, helping workers gain expertise in advanced machining technologies that are in high demand.
Big Moves in Retail and Distribution in American Township
In American Township, a long-awaited community development is coming to life with a new Target store set to open at the former Macy’s site. This will boost local shopping and further energize one of the busiest retail and restaurant corridors in the region.
Over in the industrial sector, Novus Foods is expanding its footprint with the construction of a new distribution center. This expansion will streamline their operations and allow them to better serve customers across the U.S., all while growing their workforce of 500+ employees.
Growth in Logistics for Shawnee and Perry Township
Looking ahead, a billion-dollar data center is set to begin construction in 2026. The project will involve a $500 million capital investment, marking it the largest private-sector investment in the region’s history. In addition, $50 million will be directed toward infrastructure investments. The artificial intelligence and high-tech data processing facility is expected to create 50 permanent jobs, contributing to long-term growth for Allen County.
This year also brought major logistics announcements that will shape the future of our region. Amazon is building a new delivery station on Jay Begg Parkway in Shawnee Township, with construction already underway. The facility will power last-mile delivery for the region while creating new job opportunities with competitive wages averaging more than $22 per hour. This addition to Amazon’s $49 billion Ohio investment demonstrates the strong confidence global brands have in our logistics infrastructure and workforce.
Meanwhile, Ohio Logistics also committed to investing in and building two new 100,000 square-foot tech buildings along Commerce Parkway. These facilities will further cement the area’s reputation as a growing hub for business and innovation.
A Year of Progress, A Future of Possibilities
As we reflect on the investments and growth we’ve seen in 2025, it’s exciting to think about what’s next for Allen County. From thriving downtowns to expanding industries, our communities are stronger than ever. The investments made this year have set the stage for continued growth, new job opportunities, and a brighter future for all residents. We look forward to another year of progress in 2026.
